Uses of Doppler effect

  • Doppler effect principle is used in RADAR to determine the velocities and movements of submarines and aircrafts
  • Traffic control vehicles direct microwaves on speeding vehicles. The waves reflected by the moving vehicles act as moving source. From doppler shift in frequency. the speed of the vehicles are detected
  • The doppler shift of RADAR waves used in airports to find the height, speed and distance of approaching flights
  • Bats send out and receive ultrasonic waves reflcted by the prey and obstacles. bats detect the location, distance and movement of prey by the Doppler shift
